Scott Harrison spent nearly a decade as a nightclub promoter in New York City before deciding to volunteer as a photojournalist on a hospital ship off the coast of Liberia, West Africa. After two years, he returned to New York City and founded the non-profit organization charity: water in 2006. Scott dedicated himself to addressing the global water crisis, which at the time left 1.1 billion people without access to clean drinking water. He created public installations and innovative online fundraising platforms to raise international awareness of the issue. In 17 years, with the support of over 1 million donors worldwide, charity: water has raised more than $900 million and funded over 152,000 water projects in 29 countries. Once completed, these projects will provide 18.4 million people with clean, safe drinking water.
Scott has been recognized on Fortune magazine’s 40 Under 40 list, Forbes’ Impact 30, and Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business, where he earned the #10 spot. He also received the Salute to Greatness Humanitarian Award from The King Center. Scott is the author of the New York Times bestselling book “Thirst.” He has shared stages with Presidents, Prime Ministers, and CEOs, and has spoken for major brands such as Google, Meta, Amazon, Apple, Pfizer, NBC Universal, Goldman Sachs, UBS, and Deloitte. Additionally, he has addressed future leaders at institutions like Stanford, Columbia, Duke, and NYU. Scott and his wife Viktoria have three children: Jackson, Emma, and Luke.
