An award-winning journalist, bestselling author, television host, and motivational speaker, Joan Lunden has been a trusted voice in American homes for over four decades. For nearly 20 years, she co-anchored Good Morning America, becoming the longest-running female host in early morning television history. Her journalistic credibility and warm presence have made her one of the most recognized and trusted figures in media and a highly sought-after speaker nationwide.
A passionate advocate for health and senior issues, Lunden has testified before the Food and Drug Administration in support of mandatory mammogram reporting and appeared before the House Ways and Means Committee championing the Family and Medical Leave Act. She currently hosts the PBS series Second Opinion with Joan Lunden and Caring for Tomorrow, a Washington Post podcast exploring the future of healthcare. Lunden also serves as ambassador for the Poynter Institute’s MediaWise for Seniors program, helping adults over 50 improve media literacy and detect misinformation online. She recently served as a visiting professor at Lehigh University’s College of Health, where she taught “Population Health and the Media.”
With more than 60 magazine covers and book features to her name, Lunden remains one of America’s most visible and influential women. Her most recent book, Why Did I Come into This Room: A Candid Conversation About Aging, quickly became a New York Times bestseller. After being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in June 2014, Lunden used her personal journey to inspire and inform others, chronicling her experience in the book Had I Known.

She has served as a national spokesperson for major organizations including the American Heart Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, American Lung Association, American Red Cross, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Colon Cancer Alliance.
